Title: Chief, Structures Design - Green Aircraft & System Installation Integration IPDT, Global Program Location: ON-Toronto We are seeking an individual to join a dynamic Engineering team responsible for new, challenging product development within the Global Program We have an immediate need for a Chief of Structures design within the Green Aircraft and Systems Installation Integration IPDT (Integrated Product Development Team). Reporting to the Manager of the Airframe Integration IPDT, you will supervise a team of Structural Designers and Engineers responsible for the optimized Green Aircraft definition and Aircraft level Systems Installations. Primary responsibilities will include: · Providing strong leadership and guidance within the green Aircraft and Systems Installation Integration IPDT from the challenging and exciting stages of conceptual development through to product certification and entry into service. · Provide team leadership for the Design Set - Knowledge First approach to product development. · Integrating and coordinating the activities of a team of designers to develop optimum structural arrangements that meet or exceed customer requirements in terms of weight, cost, structural integrity, durability and maintainability. · Integrating the requirements and inputs from various Engineering Specialists, Customer Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, etc. into optimum structural designs · Participating directly in configuration decisions and engineering technical reviews as an expert in airframe design. · Reviewing and approving structural layouts, detail drawings/digital datasets, technical requirements documents and design specifications. · Providing technical leadership to all team members to accomplish the Program requirements. · Participating in the development, mentoring and coaching of employees, promoting and recommending technical and leadership skills training · Maintaining technical knowledge and awareness of developments related to airframe structures · Supporting manpower planning activities, schedule and budget preparation.
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university · A minimum of 12 years of experience in airframe primary and secondary structural design including systems installations, · Detailed understanding of airframe configuration optimization, loads, stress analysis, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling concepts and structural in-service requirements. · Working knowledge of CATIA V4/V5 is required. · Understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and experience in certification procedures. · Strong leadership, communication and inter-personal skills · Completion of Leadership In Action (LIA) training would be desirable
