Posted Position Title Ceramics Quality Engineer Career Level Experienced Function Manufacturing Function Segment Manufacturing Quality Location United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces New York City Schenectady Postal Code 12345-6000 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose The Ceramics Quality Engineer will be responsible for all ceramic processes for the Energy Storage production facility located on the GE Energy campus in Schenectady, NY. Essential Responsibilities * Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to do the following: -Qualify, support and improve production ceramic processes -Introduce new products and improve product / process design -Develop and execute manufacturing control plans, including selection and acceptance of test, inspection and analytical equipment -Support the development and maintenance of the Battery Quality Management System -Support the implementation of Oracle ERP quality processes -Support the implementation of the production monitoring system -Manage SPC, data collection and reporting for ceramic processes -Support plant first pass yield and scrap goals and implement effective actions to meet continuous improvement and customer satisfaction objectives -Manage complex and dynamic issues within area of expertise -Lead incoming receiving inspection activities for ceramic processes -Provide Quality representation on Material and Process Review Boards, working to disposition nonconforming material and participate in decision-making regarding process changes and qualifications
* Conduct internal audits and assessments, recognize improvement opportunities and work with stakeholders to identify and implement effective corrective and preventative actions
* Establish an environment that encourages open communication whereby ideas and suggestions are exchanged and balanced decisions are made Qualifications/Requirements * Bachelor's of Science Degree from an accredited university
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in plant quality engineering roles Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics * Prior experience in high volume ceramic operations
* Six Sigma Green Belt certification (GE employees only)
* ASQ certifications, such as Quality Auditor or Quality Engineer
* Experience with ISO9000 quality management systems
* Specific expertise in one or more of the following: SPC, CAPA, change management, product evaluation and monitoring, gauge R&R, quality planning, nonconforming material, receiving inspection and sampling plans and/or first article
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross functionally with plant, engineering and support functions
* Excellent problem solving, time management and analytical skills
* Ability to comprehend technical documentation and drawings
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Familiarity with ERP and shop floor IT systems
* Ability to develop, document and improve quality business processes
* Familiarity with analytical chemistry methods
* Proficient user of Excel, Access and Minitab
