Job Description: The Shaw Group provides premier engineering, design, construction, and maintenance services to government and private-sector clients in a wide array of industries, including the energy, environmental, infrastructure, and emergency response markets.

Summary:
Will provide graphics support for engineering related design, analysis, and studies. Work under close supervision, performs CADD design and drafting work in support of the Engineering Group. Develop or modify deliverables based on rough sketches, marked-up copies and/or detailed verbal instructions. Develops necessary views, sections and details with supervision. Learn and understand project and Company standards and procedures. Performs minor computations such as material quantity estimate, dimensional checks, etc, as assigned. May learn new programs or processes required for assignments. Continuously evaluates methods used to accomplish the activities that have been assigned. Ensures that the deliverables and tasks that they work on are complete and meet QA requirements. Ensures that the deliverables are compliant with sketches, marked copies and written or verbal instructions.

Responsibilities:
Prepare drawings, civil and landscaping design plans, maps, topographic and construction drawings and standard engineering details of projects including:

. drainage systems/storm/sanitary sewers, and
. rights-of-way/street/parking/sidewalk paving
. utilities,
. property limits,
. plotting of field data and flood zones.

Computes and verifies quantity and costing estimates of projects using existing standards; manipulates and imports survey data into CADD drawings; prepares special drawings and charts for visual presentations; creates and updates various types of graphical representations; research, computes and calculates existing data.

Qualifications/Competencies/Experience:
Knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Drafting CADD -(AutoCAD latest version.) Knowledge of civil engineering concepts. Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) concepts. Knowledge of research methods. Knowledge of advanced mathematics (e.g. algebra, trigonometry, etc.) familiarity with MicroStation. Skill in operating CADD for the most effective production of designs and drawings. Skill in operating computer hardware and software. Skill in following oral and written instructions. Skill in project management.

The equivalent of completion of a recognized two (2) year course of instruction from a technical school, community college, college, or university with course work in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) technology. Fluent in the use of Auto-CADD computer software and mathematical calculations. Familiar in the use on MicoStation cad software and GIS concepts. Minimum of three (3) years directly related experience in civil engineering or the appropriate CADD experience.

Work involves a minimum of physical effort with intermittent need to be on site to assist with field work with the associated danger, and being in adverse conditions.

This is a Part Time position.
