Prepare technical reports on supplier capabilities and innovative technologies. Benchmark competitive vehicles to assess technology and trends. Improve quality of vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
* Design and development of body functional parts such as: window regulators/door modules, latches (hood, door and trunk lid), hinges (4 bar linkage and goose neck), door check links and gas struts * Use CATIA V5 and other Engineering tools to create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings.
* Initiate proposals or create project proposals based on management direction for body functional related components to improve quality, cost or performance. * Support vehicle launches – prototype through production – on site where required. * Benchmark competitive vehicles for technology and trends; teardown vehicle and analyze components and report on findings. * Create specifications, test plans, reports, and engineering documentation - Bill of Material (BOM), Engineering Orders (EO) and Engineering Design plans. * Research and evaluate capabilities of suppliers to produce parts for Hyundai/Kia. * Act as design liaison and Program Manager with the supply base for related systems. * Report to management as required on progress of projects, technical advancements, new trends, and benchmark studies. * Provide technical support as required to Hyundai/Kia manufacturing. * Create and present technical reports as assigned. * Perform administrative functions such as purchasing requests, timecard, vacation requests, travel requests, etc. * Perform additional projects as assigned.

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering * 5 years of experience with functional component design and development. * 1 year in CATIA V5 and other Engineering related software.
