Role synopsis The Mechanical / Reliability Engineer will lead applicable mechanical design and integrity/reliability issues for static & rotating equipment for the CP-1 Highlands Ethanol Project.

The Mechanical / Reliability Engineer is responsible for setting minimum standards and providing technical guidance and support for design, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems used in the process. This involves development and interpretation of related Site Technical Practices (STP's) and Engineering Technical Practices (ETP's).

The Mechanical / Reliability Engineer will oversee design, procurement, and construction from a mechanical equipment and reliability perspective and provide input for start-up and operation of the mechanical systems.

LOCATION NOTE:
This is part of the Biofuels PE&O Project Team and will be assigned to the Highlands Ethanol Project which is designing, and building a large-scale ethanol facility and farm infrastructure associated with energy grass supply in Highlands County, Florida.
Currently the role is located at the EP Contractor site in Spartanburg, SC, it will transition to Highlands County, FL to support the project construction as the project progresses.

Candidates need to be located in either Houston, TX or Spartanburg, SC. Relocation will be negotiable.

Additional projects in the Southeast US are planned in the future.

Key accountabilities . Advise CP-1 engineering team on applicable FEL design and technical integrity issues for the project. Provide technical guidance on applicability of mechanical codes and standards.
. Oversee technical work by engineering firms for both quality and performance.
. Act as a technical authority and/or advisor to the Engineering Manager for metallurgy, mechanical design and application.
. Set minimum standards for discipline via development and interpretation of related Site Technical Practices (STP) and ETP's.
. Evaluate and sponsor / reject STP deviations.
. Develop new Standards and STP's as needed.
. Set minimum expectations for related discipline contractors used by the project.
. Work closely with team engineers to provide assurance and sharing of best practices.
. Effectively leverage the supply base and internal BP or Vercipia resources.
. Manage service provider relationships. Assess capabilities and qualifications of mechanical equipment vendors and repair contractors.
. Consult on complex technical issues as required.
. Facilitate and Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA's) and Safety Related Conditions (SRC's) activities. Develop related corrective actions and recommendations for implementation.
. Provide start-up assistance during commissioning of newly constructed plant.
. Provide on-going technical support of plant operations and maintenance.
. Assist with development and/or updates of maintenance practices and instructions.
. Reviews and provides inputs to all projects, as the focal point for Maintenance in the mechanical equipment reliability/availability area.
. Provides technical input in determining the detailed scope of work, estimate, bill of materials and scheduling of work.
. Participates, as required, in the Management of Change (MOC) process.
. Implement analysis methods to understand short term and long term reliability, availability and mechanical integrity risks, participation in project planning, preparation of inspection and testing variances, review and analysis of equipment cost drivers and input into budget process, and definition and implementation of short term equipment replacement plans based on unit strategies.
. Lead continuous improvement programs to achieve overall improvement in plant performance, productivity, yield, reliability and availability without compromising on quality and Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE).
. Provide technical support and troubleshooting on rotating equipment (including compressors, conveyors, pumps, agitators, turbines, expanders, motors, centrifuges and bearings/gas seals)
. Work with engineering contractors, suppliers, and BP engineers to ensure that all rotating equipment meet the expected materials standards, process requirements, are safe, operable, and maintainable, and have optimum total cost of ownership in support of capital projects
. Support equipment performance testing
. Prepare diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for defining reliability problems and make recommendations for improvements.
. Conduct an analysis of reliability problems and investigate the reliability required for the particular situation considering the cost limitations for equipment up/down time, repair/replacement costs, weight, size, and availability of materials/equipment.
. Plan, conduct, and direct engineering research and development projects which require the expert application of advanced reliability engineering knowledge to prevent future failures.
. Work closely with the operations, facilities, and process engineering groups to ensure proper installation and handover of reliability capital projects, including pre-start-up safety review.
. Identify and proactively manage the risks to delivery of the assigned projects.
. Asset life monitoring and vulnerability mitigation.
Essential Education . B.S. (or higher) Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related degree) is required.
Essential experience and job requirements . 10+ years of industry experience, in Capital projects, design, and/or maintenance.
. General knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and practices.
. Demonstrable experience in maintenance, reliability and/or rotating equipment.
. Understands requirements and promotes NFPA 70E and electrical safe work practices.
. Fundamental knowledge of the following engineering disciplines: Process/Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical/Power, Materials/Corrosion/Inspection, Instrument, and Civil.
. Fundamental awareness of Process Equipment and Technical drawings.
. Demonstrated ability to communicate and relate well with people at all levels.
. Ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams, including partner organization.
