Specific Job Description Responsible for the operational check-out of electronic systems prior to or after installation on F-16 aircraft; the alignment, testing, modification, and diagnosis, and correction of causes of trouble in such systems; and the construction, calibration, and testing of electronic testing equipment on F-16 aircraft. Must be able to make complete operational test of electronics equipment and test equipment including major troubleshooting. Will use electrical and electronics mechanics hand. electric, or pneumatic tools or soldering irons, electrical and electronic testing equipment such as ohmmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, all types of microwave testing equipment, etc. Is responsible for complete operational check-out of at least one major production, prototype, new or modified electronic system prior to or after installation on the airplane. Diagnoses malfunctioning and performs rework, repair, adjustment, replacement of parts indicated as necessary by results of the checks through use of volt ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, audio oscillators, frequency and power measuring equipment, pulse generators, and other special electronic test equipment, being guided by equipment instruction books, functional test specifications, and check sheets and/or verbal or written information furnished by Engineering. Performs such work operations as repair or the replacement of components such as tubes, relays, resistors, condensers, coils, transformers, and other items used in electronic circuits. Modifies electronic equipment, test benches, and test equipment as required by customer specifications by performing such operations as adding, relocating, removing, or altering plugs, wires, relays, resistors, capacitors, and other items used in electronic circuits. Performs bench checks and calibration of complex electronic test equipment following applicable specifications, check sheets, instruction books, and/or verbal or written engineering information. Ascertains the cause of it to an operative condition. Constructs electronic circuit mock-ups, special test equipment or testing aids, using detailed schematic diagrams and other furnished engineering information, furnishing details lacking. Must be able to understand and apply electronic shop theory, practices, and procedures. To understand and apply technical knowledge in the field of electronics to solve complex problems. To understand complex electronic circuit diagrams, specifications, and blueprints. To use shop handbooks. To use algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. To develop charts, diagrams, procedures, and work sequences involved in the modification, check out, and development of electronic systems.
