Automotive Designer - Chassis Engineering - Salaried Bargaining Unit



The Automotive Designer -- Chassis Engineering is responsible for performing packaging, concept, design, layout, systems checking and chassis components. The chassis components include brakes, tires, wheels, steering, suspension, engine mounts, frames, cradles shift controls and other related components. Design projects include packaging of components, geometry design for material optimization, welding and tolerance ate explicit geometry, including use of parametric design. Conduct studies such as advance packaging feasibility, manufacture feasibility, and part reuse/commonality studies. Assess packaging of new components / systems (i.e.: transmissions, HVAC .). Collaborate with engineers to complete manufacturing and service studies. Define and execute static and kinematic studies. Assess geometry/design integrity. Build objectives, perceived quality, interferences and load .

Basic Requirements:

• Associate's degree or equivalent training in a design/engineering field; other educational credentials in combination with a relevant Engineering experience may also be considered
• Minimum of 3 yearsexperience in Catia V5 and/or Siemens NX - basic skills test will be administered

Preferred Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related technical Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited university
• Extensive experience using Catia or NX parametric solid modeling
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, GD&T practices
• Trim/chassis/final in-plant build experience
• Strong interpersonal skills to include ability to work effectively within an extended team
• Self-starter that is comfortable managing multiple assignments
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience using Teamcenter preferred
