Job Department / Program: Spacecraft Test & Operations
Job Location: Palo Alto, California
Team/Department: Payload Test Operations - Serve as Communications Vehicle Engineer throughout all phases of spacecraft assembly, integration, test and launch.
Role/Job Responsibilities:
.Under direction of the Spacecraft Manager, lead daily RF test activities of the communication payload assembly test
.Perform RF Measurements throughout a spacecraft life cycle to determine the health of assemblies and optimization of analog signals through the payload
.Working in conjunction with Payload Systems Engineering, Advanced Engineering, or Reliability Engineering personnel, develop the test plans for the communications payloads and lead performance testing of RF measurements of the communication payloads
.Forecast, create and maintain daily Test Technician Task Logs for safe and efficient carryout of 24/7 Payload Assembly and test requirements
.Direct the setup and track the performance of Payload Test Systems validation and calibration used to evaluate the performance and workmanship of the communications payloads
.Based on a comprehensive understanding of the contractual Payload Test Requirements, create test procedures that direct the work of RF Test Technicians
.Create test parameter tables used for controlling Payload Test Systems automated tests
.Acquire and set up test equipment for signal tracing of electronic circuits
.Correct anomalous test data by using RF theoretical knowledge. This includes, but is not limited to signal injection, signal tracing and tracing of electronic circuits
.Perform detailed review and signoff approval of program related test procedures and documents using the Electronic Workflow system
.Must be able to become certified in: Electro Static Discharge Awareness, Contamination Control, Flight Hardware Handling, DC connector Mate/Demate, Hazardous Waste Material Handling and Component Torque
.Establish, validate and lead all automated and manual RF measurements required for spacecraft testing including test equipment calibration, frequency response, gain transfer, VSWR, insertion loss, phase and amplitude verification
.Perform analysis of block diagrams/schematics to determine all RF primary and redundant pathways, injection points and interconnects
.Occasional travel required for durations of up to 60 days, foreign and domestic
.Willingness to work weekends, variable shifts and holidays when needed to support spacecraft integration and test
Job Qualifications:
.Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
.Experience in Systems level RF Integration and Test or equivalent
.Knowledge of Windows XP, NT, VBA, Unix, Vee and LabView desirable
.BSEE or equivalent with 0-2 years experience in satellite integration and test or equivalent
