Assoc Engineer-Fclt (Ntwk)
BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience.
1 year's experience with invoice processing, coding procedures, and PeopleSoft.
General understanding and or working knowledge in one or more of the following platforms and/or technologies:
Telecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP
Voice switch infrastructure including: Lucent 5E and ECP, Motorola MGX, and Nortel MTX
Digital Communications including: DS1, DS3, Fiber, ISDN
Data communications including: routers, switches, Ethernet, hubs, TCP/IP, ATM, Frame Relay, SS7
Microwave experience including: Nortel RD6 & 11, NEC OC3 Series 3000 radios
Ability to demonstrate proficiency in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AccessThe Associate Facilities Engineer position will be responsible for the design/ordering, provisioning and optimization of Telco transport to switch locations and cell sites and validate correct Telecom billing. The Associate Facilities Engineer position responsibilities will include the following:
•Development of reliable, cost effective designs, budgeting, procurement, implementation, and utilization of microwave transport, optical transport and leased transport ranging from DS1's to OC-192's.
•ASR ordering process. Familiar with Café and other transport vendor ordering processes/systems.
•Microwave frequency Coordination.
•Maintain and populate changes to facilities into the Xng database as network changes are implemented. Experience with work order process and other aspect of Xng.
•Work closely with Cell Implementation and Operations in meeting the regions key objectives for new cell sites and capacity requirements.
•Perform analysis of monthly facilities expenses and develop cost effective designs to reduce recurring facilities expenses - including business case and NPV analysis.
•Must ensure compliance with all Verizon Wireless standards and practices. Must provide complete equipment specifications for Network projects as defined by network deployment plans.
•Effectively manage vendors and consultants. Work with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure their products and services meet Verizon Wireless' requirements.
•Manage outside vendors and contractors to effectively meet shipping and installation commitments.
