Applications Packaging Engineer
Title: Applications Packaging Engineer Location: OR-Hillsboro PDS Tech is seeking an Applications Packaging Engineer in the Hillsboro, OR area who comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of technical concepts, practices and procedures related to applications packaging for Windows. Incumbents are competent to work on highly complex assignments and perform a full range of technical support activities. * Duties require a variety of comprehensive computing, data communication and telecommunication skills, familiarity with various diverse operating environments, applications and equipment, and will vary depending upon the end-user(s) serviced. * Responsibilities may encompass but not limited to the following: * Hardware and software technical support analysis * Communications and network systems analysis * Application packaging & sequencing * Testing and analysis * Software quality assurance and testing * Change management * Coordination with Imaging and Software Distribution teams for resolution of packaging issues and deployment solutions * Implementing test plans, migration plans, and delivery plans * Deliver high-quality solutions to our customers to ensure their investment in technology is consistent with their business objectives * Technical meetings and presentations * Manage software packaging quality control processes * Control application lifecycle management
* Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience * Minimum of 3-5 years of related support experience for Windows XP * In-depth knowledge of Windows Vista/Windows 7 system components, specifically User Account Control (UAC) * Knowledge of Windows Group Policy/Local Policy management * Experience with software packaging toolset including InstallShield, Wise Package Studio and/or the Microsoft ORCA toolkit * Strong customer service orientation, appreciation of role as representative and commitment to customer-focused contract performance * Maturity of judgment under pressure/ability to diagnose level of user need and make work assignments accordingly * Considerable end-user interface by phone and/or in-person necessitates strong (clear) verbal communication skills and credible customer presence * Good written skills and the ability to contribute to and/or lead the written proposal process * Flexibility and the ability to operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines * Commitment to quality and personal ethics * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team * Experience with SoftGrid or Microsoft App-V * Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) specifically software distribution * Knowledge in scripting with VB Script or PowerShell * Experience with Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) or other remediation technologies PDS Tech, Inc. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer - Minorities/Female/Disabled/Veteran (EOE M/F/D/V)
