Application Engineer
Position: Senior Application Engineer
Location: Rockford, Illinois
Primary Responsibilities:
? Support Account Management by managing projects, visiting customers, and completing applications reviews. Assist with value-based selling, customer design reviews, completing market segment sales plans, and maintaining new business tracking data.
? Develop new customer application solutions by leveraging exisiting product designs/concepts while utilizing standardized components.
? Make pricing decisions per published guidelines, coordinate pricing proposals with internal and external customers, and coordinate pricing for multi-national customers between different business locations.
? Develop and maintain relationships with technical contacts at our customers and our suppliers.
? Provide application, product, and market support to internal and external customers. This includes being the resident expert in these areas, answering questions, providing training, and solving problems
? Identify market segment technical requirements and document current product gaps.
? Manage new business projects including project qualification, costing analysis, and proposal development.
? Lead special projects including component standardization and rationalization.
? Create 3D assembly models and 2D space-claim drawings to provide to customers.
? All other activities and duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
? Bachelors Degree in engineering / engineering technology or equivalent experience.
? 5-10 years? of gear pump application engineering experience
? Experience presenting and conducting reviews with customers
Preferred Qualification:
? Technical sales experience

? Manage the resources, schedule, and costs to successfully complete a project within scope. Includes risk management, cost and time estimating, creating and following a project plan, leading the project team, and reporting progress to the sponsor.

? Use a Computer Aided Design (CAD) software?specifically SolidWorks.
? Apply structured tools to evaluate alternatives and make a decision.
? Apply structured problem solving methodologies to determine root cause including 5 Why, 8D, Fishbone, etc.
? Apply technical and/or engineering skills and knowledge
? Estimate the costs associated with a project, prototype, etc.
? Apply Fluid Power concepts to designs, builds, analysis, etc.
? Read blueprints to accurately interpret symbols and dimensions.
? Analyze a part or process to determine the root cause of the failure.
? Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external customers and internal and external suppliers.
? Develop a technical application that is a total solution for a customers problem. This involves leveraging existing designs/concepts and utilizing standardized components.
? Analyze a customers situation to determine the customers true requirements and priorities.
? Qualify new business projects by determining their feasibility in terms of factors including cost, lead time, and applicability of the design.
? Have a thorough understanding of hydraulic system design to successfully integrate our product offerings.
