Title: AEC - Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Design
Location: IN-Indianapolis

AEC is a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Goodrich Corporation to provide FADEC systems for Rolls-Royce aero gas turbine engines. There are offices in Indianapolis and three sites in the United Kingdom. AEC provides electronics, embedded software, fuel pumps, fuel metering valves, and fuel driven actuators to Rolls-Royce. Greater than 95% of AEC business is with Rolls-Royce.
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Design position is responsible for full product lifecycle design of positive displacement pumps, rotodynamic pumps, actuation systems, and / or enclosures and isolation systems for gas turbine engine control systems at AEC-NA (Aero Engine Controls - North America). The successful candidate will primarily focus on the application of new technologies into new products and improvements to existing products.

Key accountabilities for the role include:
* Use customer specifications to develop mechanical engineering solutions to satisfy these requirements
* Conceptual design of pumps, actuators, and / or enclosures
* Detailed design of mechanical components and electrical interface devices; taking manufacturability, reliability, and affordability into consideration.
* Support R&T design activities.
* Determine how to apply new technologies from R&T into new products.
* Support Business Development with clear and concise proposals, presentations, and models.
* Being a senior member of the team, help to refine the design process, toolset, and approach to mechanical design for the company.
* Mentor junior engineers on this approach.
* Identify and develop appropriate training for junior members of the team
* Execute assigned tasks efficiently and to schedule
* Review and analyze test data.
* Lead problem solving sessions and integration activities as appropriate
* Continually identify opportunities for improvement
* Perform assigned tasks to a defined standard
Basic:
* Bachelors degree in Engineer with 8 years experience in mechanical design of pumps, actuators, and / or enclosures
* Experience in gear and drive design, fluid mechanics, vibration considerations, enclosure sealing, or GD&T
* US Citizenship required
Preferred:
* Masters degree
* Business awareness in addition to a strong technical background
* Proven record of delivering solutions that address the complete product life cycle.
* Self driven with an ability to handle multiple activities
* Ability to handle ambiguity and being adaptable/amenable to change
* Strong design skills.
* Strong teaming and communication skills
* Process improvement and development experience
* Experience in aviation applications
