This job is in Farmington, New Mexico

 

Responsible for providing proactive electrical structural, and mechanical engineering support to the mine operations. Includes condition monitoring, root cause/reliability analysis, review and update of technical specifications, financial assessments of maintenance strategies as well as data analysis and the development and documentation of strategies and procedures. 

 

Reports to: Superintendent, Maintenance Analysis & Improvement

 

Duties include

  • Monitor equipment maintenance and working areas to ensure environmental compliance. Ensure that new products and changes in operations or maintenance procedures are reviewed by the safety department and the environmental group to maintain compliance with environmental regulations and licenses. Take action necessary to prevent non-compliance.
  • Confirm that all activities under the control of the Analysis and Improvement Team are carried out properly and efficiently; this includes good communication and coordination between the Team and all other departments.
  • Ensure that environmental and safety aspects, and risks are considered in electrical and mechanical maintenance activities and that appropriate actions are taken if there is an environmental event.
  • Conduct proactive electrical and mechanical engineering maintenance and develop improvement plans to remedy issues.
  • Confirm that contractors have completed HS&E (Health, Safety & Environment) compliance training.
  • Perform other assignments as directed to meet business needs.


Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of maintenance engineering experience in a mining environment that encompasses design, application, field and/or supervisory experience -OR- a Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to apply technical information from a variety of sources and demonstrate a proficiency in advanced mathematical skills, analysis and approaches to facilitate decision-making.
  • Exceptional management skills including the ability to plan, organize and complete multiple, complex projects simultaneously on time and within budget, as well as the ability to successfully formulate strategies to resolve complicated issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be aware of the hazards and risks involved in the mining environment and demonstrate a pattern of conduct consistent with the acceptance of responsibility for encouraging a safe work environment.
  • Consistent history of satisfactory performance, including attendance, is mandatory.
