We currently have an exciting opportunity for aSAP ABAP Developerto work within our ITS SAP Technical team at our facility in La Jolla/Torrey Pines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will perform as a senior ABAP programmer, specializing in the procure-to-pay and plan-to-deliver processes to include evaluating requirements, designing, and coding.
Works closely with the SAP Analysts as they develop functional specifications for programs.
Takes specifications and writes the Technical Specification document for the conversion, interface, report, enhancement or form. Based on Technical Specifications, develops the ABAP programs.
Unit tests the ABAP programs and documents the results.
Follows established change control procedures for migration to QA and SAP Production.
Provides research and programming support for the procure-to-pay and plan-to-deliver processes.
Researches and resolves issues with the SAP MM, PP, and QM modules, including supplier performance functionality.
Ensures documentation of program development is compiled.
Keeps up-to-date with new SAP ABAP programming developments to ensure that functionality is implemented in the optimal manner.
May provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff and lead projects.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Typically requires a Bachelor''s degree in Information Technology or related field along with twenty or more years of related experience, with at least ten years of those years in SAP ABAP development. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
Must have extensive experience with ABAP*Objects, ABAP classes and interfaces, data dictionary, and Function Modules. Experience with SAP workflow is an advantage.
Must have extensive knowledge of MM, PP, and QM tables and data structures.
Must possess the ability to follow best practices regarding programming standards, documentation and unit testing.
Must be able to develop programs in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of SAP methodology, principles, theories, concepts and techniques; and leadership skills including planning, scheduling, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new processes, as well as effectively identify, analyze and resolve highly complex technical issues.
Must be customer focused, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of employees.
Must be able to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Must possess excellent computer skills.
Must be able to work extended hours and travel between Company facilities in San Diego as required.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in a Government contracting environment.
