The Fresh Market currently has an opening for a Deli / Gourmet Category Manager at our Corporate Offices in Greensboro, North Carolina. This position will report to the Vice President of Merchandising-Deli/Bakery/CMS. The Deli / Gourmet Cheese Category Manager will be responsible for managing the full profitability and loss of the category in addition to developing category business plans, vendor management, and negotiations. This position will be responsible for the involvement of SKU assortment, SKU rationalization, item introduction, discontinuation and retail pricing. This position will monitor accurate item cost and deal information to ensure system accountability in addition to negotiating costs and allowances from vendors for everyday pricing and weekly promotions. The Deli / Gourmet Cheese Category Manager will be expected to control and monitor sales and gross profit (i.e. Gross margin dollars, gross profit percent, sales percent of the store, department sales, and department sales this year to last year). This position will be expected to support overall department category portfolio management program through analysis and provide analytical support on items and categories. This position will help to develop Seasonal and Holiday Merchandising plans and Planning Calendars and programs and communicate these to the Department Managers, District Managers and Store Managers to achieve desired sales and profits. The Deli / Gourmet Cheese Category Manager will be expected to ensure that category roles are effectively executed at store level and oversee execution of category marketing strategies and tactics. This position will develop comprehensive programs that include training of personnel, product development, proper merchandising, signing, and weights, packaging, and labeling. This position will implement and maintain assortment, pricing, planagram, promotion labeling, packaging and product supply across the entire system, while reviewing the performance of the business plan. The Deli / Gourmet Cheese Category Manager will be expected to supervise all new programs, tests, remodels, and new store openings.

The Fresh Market will require a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field experience. Demonstrated two years of category management experience and two years plus store level experience in a position of Deli Manager or higher. Demonstrated food knowledge in a Deli environment with the desire to learn food education and merchandising. Demonstrated excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and decision making skills are required for the position. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills are required with the ability to present analytical data. The ability to build and maintain professional working relationships within and outside The Fresh Market is required. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point will be required. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, highly motivated, and understand the sense of urgency and confidentiality requirements associated with this position
